"Is Screen Mode" Chip
An "Is Screen Mode" chip would be very useful to adjust the experience accordingly for different platforms.
It would operate by outputting a boolean value if they are on Screen or VR.
I am very aware RecRoom wants experiences to be universal across platforms but this is pointless to enforce. It's not fun for creators to make compromises to make sure screen players can play their game properly.
I'd love to be able to create a good room experience for both screen and VR without compromising or limiting what platforms can join the room.
An example of a use case for this chip is how players can move their avatar in VR. In VR players can make very dynamic movements with their hands that could be used in a game that involves throwing. On screen players can move their hands but it very limited ways, although not limited by real-world physics.
Because moving my mouse 4 inches translates to a velocity of 34 meters per second in game make sense, no problem there.
I also don't want to forget that VR players can roll their head. Screen cannot. You cannot roll your head on screen. Please tell me how to rotate my mouse through my table to see around a corner.
While this can already be done with circuits, it currently requires beta to be enabled and the use of a gun handle. SInce the forward vector of the gun handle is reflective of their camera position on screen we can compare that to their camera forward vector and determine if they are on VR. But this is not the cleanliest way of doing things.
I rest my case. Give us the chip. It's been 10 months since this was last suggested!

There's an "Is VR" chip, so...

Hi IsacVR this post was made over a year ago before that chip was added. This post just has not been marked as completed š
