If your game is crashing before you even get to the start screen, shortly after landing to your Dorm Room, or it consistently crashes after a few minutes, it's likely your installation is corrupted. Please try and reinstall the game.
If that does not fix your issue, you can try a full wipe of not only the installation folder, but also some other additional files that are generated to enable Rec Room to run.
If you use the Steam PC version of Rec Room, follow the instructions below for potential fixes:
- Verify your game cache. Right-click Rec Room in your Library, go to the Installed Files tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". Then try to launch the game.
- If the previous step did not work, try a full reinstall. In the Local Files tab, click "Delete Local Game Content".
For both of the instructions above, you can find these menus via Steam by right clicking Rec Room, selecting properties, which should open up the game's properties menu.
Please continue below for how to continue.
- Once Rec Room is deleted, there are still some folders to remove. Open up File Explorer on windows. Find and delete the "Against Gravity" folder found at C:\Users\(Your Windows Username)\AppData\LocalLow\Against Gravity
- After you have deleted the "Against Gravity" folder, reinstall the game through Steam.
Please replace (Your Windows Username) with your windows username in the step above.
If you're still seeing issues with the game, please be aware that if you're playing the game with older Intel integrated graphics or some older graphics cards, the game may not run properly or at all, which is why your game may be crashing on start-up. See here for more information.
If you are still not able to start the game after trying these steps, feel free to submit a ticket with our support staff. Please use the "Technical and General Support" category for this issue.
