Co-creating is an important part of Rec Room! To prevent unwanted actions by others, like cloning or deleting subrooms, check your room permissions.
Viewing and Editing Room Permissions
While in your room, you can check your room permissions by clicking This Room > Settings > and scrolling until you see Permissions.
Click the gear icon to view and edit permissions for that permission level.
Tips for Keeping Your Room Safe
Add players as Contributors instead of Co-owners
-
- Contributors can create normally and are eligible to receive room earnings. Players who help build a room usually only need Contributor access.
- Co-owners have access to additional permissions settings that Contributors can't access. Only give co-ownership to players that you really trust.
Leave high-risk settings Off or Disabled
Some permission settings are defaulted to Off or Disabled. We highly recommend keeping these off or disabled to prevent content from being moved, cloned, or deleted.
Avoid transferring ownership of a room
If you decide to trade, sell, or transfer ownership of your room, this is done at your own risk! The following can be found in our Creator Code of Conduct:
iv. Transfer of content ownership between players is a private arrangement between the involved parties. Ownership transfers are final. Creators are responsible for understanding the terms and implications before initiating. Rec Room will not resolve or adjudicate private transfers.
Important Notes
Enabling permissions is at your own risk. Permission settings are designed to give creators control over their rooms. Ignoring permissions may lead to unwanted actions in your room by fellow creators.
Note: Rec Room will not resolve disputes between creators if room permissions are not properly managed and content is obtained legitimately.
