As of October 2023, Meta allows players aged 10-12 to use Meta Quest devices if they are using a parent-managed account. This means that parents or guardians must create a parent-managed Meta account for their child aged 10-12 via the Meta Family Center. If a 10-12 year-old player signs into Rec Room from their parent-managed Meta account, they will be able to play using a Junior Rec Room account.
More Information about Junior Accounts
To learn more about Rec Room Junior accounts, check out our Junior Accounts article. We also recommend parents review our Parent's Guide on how to manage Junior accounts within Rec Room.
Age Restrictions for Players under 10 on Meta Devices
Please note that Meta does not allow children under 10 years old to use Meta devices. Players under 10 are therefore unable to play Rec Room using a Meta Quest device.
However, under 10s can still enjoy Rec Room on all other supported platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS and Android. You can download Rec Room for these platforms using our download page: Rec Room Download.
Limitations of Parent-Managed Meta Accounts in Rec Room
Please note that players using a parent-managed Meta account can only use a Rec Room Junior account and will not be able to sign into a Non-Junior Rec Room account.
Players 13+ on Meta Devices
Players 13 and over can continue to use their Meta devices and log into Rec Room as normal as long as they are not logged into a parent-managed Meta account on their device.
